House, Condo,/Coops, Renters
- Tree removal coverage. New coverage of $1,000 for removal
of trees fallen due to wind, hail, sleet or the weight of ice
or snow which do not damage covered property.
- Fire department charges. Fire department charges increased
from $500 to $1,000.
Deluxe, Standard and Fire Contents
- Business property coverage. The business property limit
has been increased to A $25,000. In addition, business no longer
has to be incidental or conducted at the residence premises.
A $2,500 sublimit applies to covered losses occurring away from
the residence and insured owns or lives at.
- Food spoilage coverage. New coverage for food spoilage
caused by off premises power interruption, interruption of premises
power supply and mechanical breakdown of refrigeration equipment.
A $250 deductible applies.
- Silver special limit. Special limit for silverware
is increased (not applicable to Fire Contents) from $5,000 to
$10,000.
- Electronic data restoration. Data replacement has been
renamed "Electronic data restoration" and expanded to cover
software anywhere in the world and to replace or recreate personal
data as a result of a computer virus.
Valuable Articles
- Partial loss. Revised to include payment for loss in
value after a covered loss if the market value of the item before
the loss is less than the amount of coverage for that item.
- If a loss is covered under both the Contents and Valuable Articles
policies, the amount of coverage will equal the combined total
of both coverages. For instance, if the market value of a painting
at the time of loss exceeds the coverage afforded by the Valuable
Articles policy, additional coverage will now be available through
the Contents policy subject to policy restrictions. No coverage
is afforded under Contents if the valuable articles are insured
with another carrier.
Personal Liability
- Kidnap expenses. We will pay up to $100,000 for specifically
defined kidnap expenses and up to $25,000 for information leading
to the arrest and conviction of the kidnapper.
- Identify fraud coverage. Identify fraud expenses coverage
up to a maximum of $25,000 for each identify fraud occurrence.
For example, another person unlawfully uses the insured's social
security number for his own gain. The insured may incur expenses
in order to clear the damage to his credit. A $500 deductible
applied to each occurrence.
- Credit card. Coverage included theft of credit card
number on the Internet. The above is a brief description only.
